This program at Canadore College integrates molecular and cellular-based strategies to study the structure, function, and regulation of an individual's genomic legacy.
Learn to apply techniques such as genotyping and next-generation sequencing to unlock the power of the genome.
An emphasis will be placed on understanding the pathogenesis of diseases and learning how genetic variation interacts with an individual's environment, nutrition, and lifestyle.
The new innovative genomics laboratory is equipped with some of the leading-edge technology in Canada including four DNA sequencers that provide the capacity for research in areas such as pharmacology, addictions, and disease prevention.

For the English as a Second Language program, it requires a minimum IELTS score of 3.0; for entry into English for Academic Purposes, a minimum IELTS score of 4.5 is required.
Both programs run full-time for 8 months. Students beginning in English as a Second Language will then take an additional 8 months full-time of English for Academic Purposes before moving into their program of study.
Ontario College Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree, or equivalent in the following areas:
Biotechnology diploma program (2- or 3-year); (Note: minimum 'C+' average or cumulative 2.5 GPA); undergraduate health science degree program; or, be a licensed health care provider (e.g. MD, ND, RPH, RN, CN, DMD, DC).
