Computer science at the University of New Brunswick isn't just about computers; it's about using computers to understand and solve large problems. 

Computer science isn't just about computers; it's about using computers to understand and solve large problems. 

Combating climate change, finding cures for diseases, and helping children learn - solving any of these issues can begin by studying computer science. 

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is part of almost everything you do from the car you drive to the movies you watch to the cell phone you use. 

  • Hands-on experience – gain valuable work experience and earn money through our co-op program.

Students will carry out supervised laboratory exercises and independent work designed to improve programming skills, boost confidence and competence in acquiring new languages, and help choose implementation languages for future projects

Language pathway (conditional offer) is available
  • International students who have been conditionally accepted to undergraduate or graduate programs at UNB Saint John — or who plan to apply — but who need to improve their English as a condition of their acceptance
  • Students who have been conditionally accepted to the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) but who need to provide proof of English proficiency before beginning their studies at NBCC.

Here are the test score requirements for each level of the EAP program:

  • Level 3 (High Beginner): IELTS 3.0 – 4.0 |Duolingo 55-65
  • Level 4 (Intermediate I): IELTS 4.5 – 5.0 | Duolingo 70-80
  • Level 5 (Intermediate II): IELTS 5.5 | Duolingo 85-90

Academic background and requirement

Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS)

  • Course requirements:
    • Senior English Literature (60% or higher)
    • Senior Math, including Pre-Calculus (65% or higher)
    • 1 of Senior Biology, Senior Chemistry or Senior Physics (65% or higher)
    • 1 elective from group 1 (60% or higher)
    • 1 elective from group 1 or 2 (60% or higher)
  • Minimum admission average: 75%

Group 1: Senior Secondary Additional or Advanced Math, Biology, Chemistry, Computer / Information Technology, French, Geography, History, Geology, Law, Political Science, Science, Physics, Sociology, Environmental Studies.

Group 2: Senior Secondary Accounting, Business Studies, Marketing.

 

GPA:

China: Senior high school graduation certificate, min grade C or 70%

India: Indian School Certificate Examination, Intermediate Certificate, Secondary School leaving certificate, Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate or All India Senior School Certificate, min grade 40%
